Bristan Shower Valve Spares and Replacement Parts
What we stock, what fails most often, and how to find the right part for your Bristan shower.
Most Bristan shower faults come down to a worn thermostatic cartridge or a failed seal inside the valve body. A bar mixer shower that no longer holds temperature, a concealed valve that drips after the water is turned off, a handle that spins without engaging: each of these points to a specific internal component. We carry Bristan shower spares across over forty model ranges, from current production valves like the Prism, Artisan and Frenzy through to older discontinued models including the 1901, Sonique and Capri. Our electric shower spares cover the Bliss, Joy, Glee and Smile with heating elements, solenoid valves and pressure switches. If you know your model, start with the by-model section. If you are not sure what has failed, the fault guide below will point you to the right part type.

Questions About Bristan Shower Spares
Common questions we get asked about identifying and replacing Bristan shower parts.
How do I identify my Bristan shower model?
Look for a model code printed or engraved on the valve body, the backplate or the underside of the temperature handle. On older Bristan showers the code may only appear on the original paperwork or inside the housing behind the front cover. If you cannot find a code, check our Bristan Shower Spares by Model section where each range is shown with a product image. You can also email us a photo and we will identify the model for you.
Does Bristan still make spare parts for older shower models?
Bristan has discontinued several shower ranges over the years, but many internal parts are shared across models. A thermostatic cartridge from the current Prism range may also fit older valves like the Quest or Chill because the cartridge housing is the same. We keep stock of spares for discontinued Bristan showers where the parts are still manufactured or where compatible alternatives exist. If your model is listed in the by-model section, the parts shown are confirmed available.
Why is my Bristan shower running too hot or not holding temperature?
Temperature instability on a Bristan thermostatic shower almost always points to the thermostatic cartridge. The wax element inside the cartridge expands and contracts to regulate temperature, and over time it loses accuracy. Replacing just the wax thermostat element (such as the SK1500-3) may resolve the issue on some models. On others the full cartridge assembly needs replacing. Check whether your valve uses a push-fit or screw-in cartridge before ordering.
What is the difference between a bar mixer shower and a concealed valve?
A bar mixer is an exposed valve mounted on the wall surface with visible pipework connections at each end. A concealed valve sits behind the wall with only the control handles and a faceplate visible. The internal cartridges are often different between the two types even within the same Bristan range, so knowing whether your installation is exposed or concealed matters when ordering spares. Both types are covered in the by-model listings where each valve variant is shown separately.
Can I replace a Bristan shower cartridge myself?
On most Bristan bar mixer showers, yes. Turn off the water supply, remove the temperature handle (usually held by a grub screw), then unscrew the cartridge housing with a suitable spanner. The cartridge pulls or unscrews out of the valve body. Take a photo of the old cartridge before removing it so you can confirm orientation when fitting the new one. Concealed valves need access behind the wall, and electric showers should only be worked on by a qualified electrician.
