Shower Wastes & Spares
Replacement shower drain covers, shower waste trap covers, trap inserts, plug hole covers and cover plates for standard 90mm wastes, slimline trays and walk-in shower drains. These parts sit over the waste outlet, catching hair and finishing the installation whilst allowing water through.
Shower Drain Cover, Waste Cover and Trap Spares for Every Shower Tray
Replacement covers, inserts and cover plates for standard, slimline, walk-in and square waste installations.
Shower drain covers fail for predictable reasons. The chrome finish lifts and flakes, the hair catcher stops lifting out cleanly, the cover warps from cleaning chemicals, or the existing cap is lost after a plumber swaps the waste body and does not refit it. Our range covers 90mm standard dome covers, 120mm Wirquin and McAlpine type inserts, slimline low-profile tray inserts, and square grid covers for modern walk-in drains. Chrome, white, black and brushed finishes. Most covers unclip or unscrew from the waste body and replace in a couple of minutes. We carry sizes and brand-specific fittings, including discontinued Bathstore, Matki and Merlyn, that are not stocked through standard trade counters.

Common Questions About Shower Drain and Waste Covers
The questions customers ask most when ordering a replacement cover.
How do I know what size shower drain cover I need?
Measure the visible disc, not the hole in the tray. Take the diameter in millimetres across the top of the existing cover while it is still in place. The most common sizes are 90mm, 110mm and 120mm, but some older Bathstore and Mira trays take 75mm, 80mm or 115mm. If the cover is already missing, measure the waste outlet opening and add roughly 15mm, as the cover always overhangs the hole by a short lip.
Are shower drain covers universal, or do I need the brand that matches my tray?
A 90mm chrome dome cover from a fastflow-style waste will fit most standard shower tray wastes made since the early 2000s. Branded trays from Matki, Merlyn, Lakes, Kaldewei, Aqualisa and some Bathstore ranges use bespoke covers that only fit their own waste bodies. If your tray has a recessed or irregular-shaped housing, the fitting is almost always brand-specific. Check the underside of the tray or the fitting instructions that came with it for the brand name before ordering a universal replacement.
How do I remove an old shower drain cover that has seized in place?
Most shower drain covers either unclip, twist out with a quarter turn, or unscrew with a central grub screw. If yours will not move, do not force it with pliers as you will damage the waste rim. Lime scale is usually the cause. Soak it in a cloth with white vinegar or a mild descaler for ten minutes and try again. For covers with a central screw, check the screw head is not painted over before applying any pressure.
What is the difference between a shower drain cover and a shower waste trap?
The drain cover is the visible part you see in the tray. The waste trap is the bottle or U-bend fitting underneath the tray that holds a water seal and stops smells from the drain coming back up. Most faults that customers blame on the drain cover, such as slow drainage, bad smells or gurgling, are actually caused by the trap below it being blocked or dried out. If the cover lifts out clean and water still drains slowly, the trap itself is where the work needs to happen.
Do you stock shower drain covers for Matki, Merlyn and discontinued Bathstore trays?
We stock drain covers and cover caps for Matki FF90 Original, FF90 Mark 2, LPW90 and Radiance trays, Merlyn 120mm and Truestone waste covers, and Bathstore fastflow-compatible 210mm and 120mm covers. For trays from Lakes, Kaldewei, Aqualisa, Daryl, Geberit and Duravit we hold model-specific fittings that are not widely carried elsewhere. If your tray brand is not listed, send us a photo of the existing cover and the underside of the tray. We can usually source a match even when the tray range is discontinued.
