Shower Slide Rail Kits & Spares
Shower slide rail spares and replacement rail brackets for handset rails on mixer and electric showers. Wall brackets work loose, sliders break, end caps fall off and soap dishes shatter. Each part replaces independently without changing the rail itself, as long as you know the rail diameter. We supply spares for 18mm, 19mm, 22mm and 25mm rail bars, the four diameters that cover almost every UK shower.
SHOWER SLIDE RAIL SPARES | BUYING GUIDE
Common Shower Rail Diameters
Rail diameter is the first measurement to confirm before ordering any spare part. UK shower rails come in four common bar diameters, and almost every spare in this category is sold against one of those four sizes.
| Diameter | Where you find it | Common brand fits |
|---|---|---|
| 18mm | Older basic mixer kits | Older Triton, Galaxy, generic budget kits |
| 19mm | Most common UK domestic size | Mira, Aqualisa, Bristan, Ideal Standard |
| 22mm | Higher-flow and rainfall sets | Hansgrohe, Grohe, modern rainfall mixers |
| 25mm | Heavier-duty and walk-in sets | Lefroy Brooks, Burlington, traditional ranges |
If the rail is intact, measure the diameter directly. If the rail has been removed or damaged, the slider's internal opening or the bracket clamp size will indicate the original diameter.
Types of Shower Rail Spare
-
Wall brackets
The fittings that hold the rail to the wall, usually one at the top and one at the bottom of the rail. Loose or corroded brackets are the most common rail failure. Match the rail diameter and the existing fixing-hole pattern on the wall.
-
Handset sliders
The clip that runs up and down the rail, holding the handset at adjustable height. Sliders crack from being knocked, or stop gripping when the internal clamp wears. Match the rail diameter and check the handset hose thread (typically 1/2 inch BSP).
-
End caps
Small plastic or metal caps that close off the open ends of the rail. Often lost rather than broken. Match the rail diameter exactly: a 19mm cap will not fit an 18mm or a 22mm rail.
-
Soap dishes
Clip-on dishes or shelves that grip the rail bar. Some are diameter-specific clips; others use a flexible bracket that fits a range. Replacement is independent of every other rail part.
-
Full slide rail kits
Complete replacement sets including rail bar, two wall brackets, a slider and end caps. Worth considering when more than one component has failed, since a kit is often cheaper than buying three separate spares.
How to Identify Your Rail
Measure the bar diameter with a ruler, caliper or a flexible tape divided by pi. Note the rail length between bracket centres. Check the slider's hose thread, almost always 1/2 inch BSP on UK showers. Photograph the slider and brackets from the back if there is space; brand markings sometimes survive on hidden faces.
If the rail kit is older and has lost any visible markings, send the diameter and a photo of the slider to our team. Diameter is the strongest identification signal, and most spares are stocked across the four common sizes. A worn rail bar often coincides with a tired handset and hose, with matching companion replacements covered in our shower heads and shower hoses ranges, brand-specific kits listed in our manufacturer directory, and the rest of a typical install grouped together in our shower spares catalogue.
Shower Rail Spare FAQs
How do I measure the diameter of my shower rail?
Wrap a flexible tape around the rail bar and divide the measurement by pi (3.14) to get the diameter. Alternatively, measure across the bar's widest point with a ruler or caliper. The four common UK diameters are 18mm, 19mm, 22mm and 25mm. 19mm is the single most common size on domestic mixer and electric showers, and 22mm is increasingly common on modern rainfall sets.
Are shower rail spares interchangeable across brands?
The smaller parts (handset sliders, end caps and most soap dishes) are largely interchangeable as long as the diameter matches. Wall brackets sometimes have brand-specific fixing patterns and may need a brand-match. If your rail is from Mira, Aqualisa, Bristan or Triton, brand spares are usually available; for less common brands, generic diameter-matched parts work in most cases.
Can I buy a replacement slider without buying a new rail?
Yes. Sliders are designed to be replaced independently. The slider clips or screws onto the rail bar and holds the handset; replacing it does not require touching the rail or the wall brackets. Match the rail diameter and the handset hose connection (typically 1/2 inch BSP).
What is the standard length of a shower slide rail?
Standard lengths are 600mm, 700mm and 750mm, with 700mm the most common UK domestic size. Longer rails (up to 1000mm) suit walk-in showers and rainfall sets. Shorter rails (around 500mm) are sometimes fitted in compact ensuite bathrooms. The wall bracket spacing usually matches the rail length, so a longer rail uses brackets fitted further apart.
Do you supply spares for older or discontinued slide rail kits?
Yes. Diameter is the primary identifier rather than brand for older kits, since the brand name has often worn off the slider or bracket. As long as you can measure the rail diameter, the slider hole pattern and the bracket fixing centres, a working replacement is usually available even when the original kit is no longer made.
