Most tap parts are not universal. A ceramic disc cartridge has a body diameter, a turn angle and a stem length. Get any one of those wrong and the tap either will not close or will not fit the body. The same applies to mixer cartridges, where the spline count and stem format determine compatibility. Parts here are listed with the fitment data you need to order correctly: body diameter, turn type, brand fit and, where relevant, the production date range the part applies to. Check the existing cartridge or valve before ordering if you are unsure of the size.
