How to Identify Your Geberit Inlet Valve
Geberit valves (often marked as "Impuls") are distinct in design. Identifying the correct generation and connection type is critical for a successful repair.
- 1. Connection Point (Side vs Bottom) Check where the water enters the cistern. Side entry fill valves connect through the left or right wall, while bottom entry fill valves connect directly from underneath.
- 2. Valve Series (Type 380 vs Type 360) The Type 380 is the standard modern valve, often recognised by its compact rectangular float. The Type 360 is an older style bottom entry valve. We supply compatible replacements for both.
- 3. Part Numbers Look for numbers moulded into the plastic cap or backplate, such as "Impuls380" or "Impuls360".
Common Issues & Parts Needed
Cistern Filling Slowly
Valve takes a long time to shut off or makes a hissing noise.
→ Replace: Complete Fill Valve
Water Constant Trickle
Water continues to run into the overflow tube after flushing.
→ Replace: Diaphragm / Washer
Common Questions
▶ Can I just replace the washer?
Yes. If your valve is physically intact (no cracks in the plastic) but letting water by, replacing the diaphragm washer is often the only repair needed. It is a very common maintenance item.
▶ Difference between Type 380 and Type 360?
The Type 380 is the modern standard, compact valve found in most current Geberit cisterns. The Type 360 is an older style bottom-entry unit. We supply compatible replacements for both generations.
▶ Will the new Type 360 fit my old cistern?
Yes, provided the connection type (bottom entry) is the same. The modern replacement valves are designed to be retrofitted into older cisterns, often taking up less space than the original units.
