Toilet Seats & Spare Parts
Toilet seat spare parts, toilet seat parts and replacement toilet seats for branded sanitaryware, including complete seats, soft close toilet seat spares, hinges, dampers and buffers. We stock toilet seat replacement parts for Armitage Shanks, Duravit, Villeroy & Boch, Eastbrook, Burlington and AXA, covering models not readily available through standard retailers. If your soft close mechanism has stopped working or a hinge has failed, the individual part is usually here without needing to replace the whole seat.
Toilet Seat Replacement Parts, Hinges and Soft Close Spares
Complete seat replacements and individual toilet seat components for branded sanitaryware.
When a toilet seat cracks, discolours or no longer fits correctly, a direct replacement from the original manufacturer is almost always the right call. We stock toilet seat replacement parts for a wide range of branded toilets, including soft close and standard close seats from Armitage Shanks, Duravit, Villeroy & Boch, Eastbrook, Burlington and AXA. If the seat itself is fine but the soft close toilet seat mechanism has become sluggish, jerky or stopped dampening altogether, the soft close damper or hinge set is usually the culprit. Both are stocked individually. Toilet seat buffers, fixing kits and cover clips are also held for models not carried by standard retailers. Replacement parts for soft close toilet seats and branded seats from discontinued ranges are a particular strength of our stock.
Replacing a Complete Toilet Seat
Your seat is cracked, stained or no longer available from the original retailer. We stock soft close, standard close and quick release seats matched to the original toilet pan. This includes slim-profile and D-shaped variants.
Repairing or Replacing a Part
Your seat is intact but a component has failed. The soft close damper no longer slows the lid, a hinge has snapped, or the rubber buffers have come away. Individual toilet seat components are stocked separately.
Hinges & Fixings
Hinge sets, bottom-fix kits, fixing bolts and hygiene handle assemblies
Soft Close Dampers
Replacement damper cylinders and soft close mechanism parts
Seat Buffers
Rubber and plastic lid buffers that prevent the seat contacting the pan
Toilet Seat Parts: What Each Component Is Called
Identify the toilet seat component you need before you search.
Toilet Seat
The moulded ring you sit on, hinged at the back of the pan. Available in soft close and standard close versions, and in various shapes including D-shaped, square and compact. Replaced when cracked, discoloured or no longer matching the pan.
Toilet Seat Cover / Lid
The flat closing panel that lowers over the seat when not in use. Sometimes sold as part of a seat-and-cover set, sometimes stocked separately. Often searched as "toilet lid replacement" or "toilet seat lid", it is the cover, not the seat ring itself.
Toilet Seat Hinge
The pivot assembly that attaches the seat and cover to the back of the pan. Hinges are brand-specific and often model-specific. A hinge set typically includes both hinge posts and the fixing bolt hardware. Stocked in top-fix and bottom-fix configurations.
Soft Close Damper
The hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder inside the hinge housing that controls lowering speed. When a soft close toilet seat starts dropping sharply instead of easing down, the damper has usually failed. Replacement dampers are stocked for many branded seats without replacing the whole hinge set.
Toilet Seat Buffer
Small rubber or plastic feet fixed to the underside of the seat or lid that prevent direct contact with the pan or seat ring. Buffers absorb impact, reduce noise and protect the ceramic. They are sold individually and as sets, and are one of the most commonly replaced toilet seat accessories, often lost when cleaning or during seat removal.
Questions About Toilet Seat Spare Parts and Replacement
Common questions about identifying, matching and ordering toilet seat parts.
What are the different parts of a toilet seat?
A toilet seat assembly has five main components: the seat ring (what you sit on), the cover or lid (the closing panel), the hinge set (the pivot mechanism at the rear), the soft close dampers (the hydraulic cylinders that control lowering speed, present on soft close seats), and the seat buffers (the rubber or plastic feet on the underside). Fixing bolts and cover clips are also stocked as separate toilet seat accessories. Each component can usually be replaced individually without buying a complete seat-and-cover set.
How do I know whether I need a new hinge or a full seat replacement?
If the seat ring and lid are undamaged but the seat is loose, wobbly or no longer stays raised, the hinge set has most likely failed. Toilet seat hinges are the pivot and fixing assembly at the rear. They are sold as hinge sets including the posts and fixing bolts, and are available in both top-fix and bottom-fix configurations. If the seat itself is cracked, stained, or the seat and hinge are both worn, a complete toilet seat replacement is the more practical option. We stock both individually.
Can I repair a soft close toilet seat or do I need to replace the whole mechanism?
In most cases the soft close damper can be replaced on its own without changing the entire hinge set or the seat. The damper is the hydraulic cylinder that provides the controlled lowering action. When it fails, the lid drops sharply rather than easing down. Replacement dampers are held for a wide range of branded seats. If the hinge posts themselves are cracked or the hinge body has broken, a full hinge set replacement is needed. The soft close dampers section lists replacement cylinders by brand and model.
What types of toilet seat fittings are there?
Toilet seat fittings fall into two main configurations. Top-fix fittings are the most common: the hinge bolts pass down through holes in the ceramic pan and are tightened from above using a wingnut or tool. Bottom-fix fittings secure from underneath the pan rim, often used where the fixing holes are concealed. Some seats also use a slide-on or click-on fitting where the seat clips onto a fixed mounting plate. The fitting type is determined by the toilet pan, not the seat, so always check your pan before ordering replacement hinges or a new seat.
Do you stock replacement parts for branded toilet seats like Burlington or Armitage Shanks?
Yes. We hold toilet seat replacement parts for a wide range of branded seats including Armitage Shanks, Duravit, Villeroy & Boch, Eastbrook, Burlington, AXA, Catalano and Celmac, among others. For Burlington specifically, toilet seat spare parts are listed by seat model to make matching straightforward. If you have a Cooke & Lewis or B&Q-branded seat, the spare parts for those ranges are held under our B&Q spare parts section. If you're unsure of the seat model, send a photo to sales@bathroomspareparts.co.uk and we'll identify the correct part before you order.
