Toilet Seat Buffers
Replacement toilet seat buffers for ceramics where the originals have perished, split or dropped out and the seat no longer sits flat on the pan. We stock brand-matched buffer sets, single buffers and seat and cover pairs for Armitage Shanks, Ideal Standard, Duravit, Bemis, Burlington, Celmac, Pressalit and every other major UK manufacturer. Fast next-day UK delivery available.
Measurements: please read
Most buffers have measurements in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th photos on the product page. We CANNOT provide measurements over the phone as the buffers are in a warehouse, away from phone staff. If you require measurements of a buffer on the website, email in the product code and the team will measure them for you.
Replacement Toilet Seat Buffers for Every Major UK Brand
Brand-matched buffer sets, single buffers and seat and cover pairs
Toilet seat buffers are the small rubber or plastic pads that sit between the seat and the ceramic pan, cushioning the seat as it lowers and stopping it from sliding. Most buffer problems show up the same way: a seat that rocks, slips sideways, clatters when closed, or one where the rubbers have perished and fallen out. Nearly every replacement here is matched to a specific seat model, so an Armitage Shanks Contour 21 set is not interchangeable with an Ideal Standard Tonic set. Most fit with push-in pins, some are stick-on, and a handful are held by a separate clip. The Bathroom Spare Parts Press In Seat Buffer Set is our own-brand universal option for seats where the original part is no longer made. Also sold as toilet seat bumpers, pads, stoppers or rubbers depending on the manufacturer.
Toilet Seat Buffers by Brand
We supply toilet buffers for the following brands and manufacturers
Buffers, Bumpers, Pads, Stoppers: Which Term Describes Your Part?
Common names for the same small component that sits under a toilet seat
| Term | What It Is |
|---|---|
| Toilet Seat Bumpers | The same component as a toilet seat buffer, more often used in North America and by some UK manufacturers. If you have searched for bumpers and landed here, you are in the right place. |
| Toilet Seat Pads | Another term for the same small rubber or plastic buffer. Some brands call their buffer sets pads, others reserve pads for the wider supporting rubber discs that sit flat on the rim. |
| Toilet Seat Stoppers / Stops | Describes the buffer by its function rather than its shape. Stoppers is the term customers use when the seat no longer stops where it should and slides forward or sideways. |
| Toilet Seat Rubbers / Rubber Pads | Used when the buffer is the soft rubber type rather than a moulded plastic pin. Most older ceramic seat sets use rubber buffers that perish and need replacing after several years. |
Also searched as: toilet seat feet, spacers, supports, blocks, inserts, stabilisers, lid buffers and toilet seat rubber washers. All describe variations of the same small cushioning or levelling component.
Questions About Toilet Seat Buffers
How do I identify which toilet seat buffers I need?
Start with the manufacturer name and model printed or moulded on the underside of the seat, or on the rear of the pan. Match that to the brand and model in the product title on this page. Where the model name is not visible, measure the distance between the two fixing hole centres on the seat, compare the buffer shape and fixing method to the product photos, and if in doubt email a photo to our team.
How are these different from the toilet seat buffers sold at Screwfix, B&Q, Toolstation or Wickes?
The general-purpose packs at DIY retailers cover one or two universal sizes. Our range is specific to the ceramic and seat manufacturer, covering Armitage Shanks, Ideal Standard, Duravit, Bemis, Burlington, Celmac, Pressalit and more. If the seat is a named brand model, a manufacturer-specific buffer is usually the only part that fits correctly without rocking or leaving gaps.
What are push-in, stick-on and clip-fitted toilet seat buffers?
Push-in buffers have a tapered pin on the base that presses into a pre-drilled hole on the underside of the seat. Stick-on buffers use an adhesive backing and fit where there is no fixing hole, often on toilet seat lids. Clip-fitted buffers are held by a small plastic or metal retainer, most commonly on older Armitage Shanks and Burlington sets. The product photo will show the fixing type.
What other toilet seat parts are available for replacement?
Buffers are one of several wear parts on a toilet seat. Our main toilet seat spare parts section covers full replacement seats, soft-close dampers and cistern-connected fittings. If the hinges or fixing bolts are also worn or broken, the matching replacement hardware is in our toilet seat hinges and fixings page.
My buffers are worn but I only need one, not a set. Can I order a single?
For some brands, yes. Bemis, Celmac, Pressalit and Lefroy Brooks list single-buffer products on this page for seat-only or lid-only replacement. For most other manufacturers the buffers are supplied as matched sets because the seat and cover use slightly different profiles. If only one buffer has failed, a set still represents the correct replacement, as the remaining originals are usually close to the same age.
